A better way to discuss how many toilets you need

Bring the pattern of use to the conversation. A single headcount is helpful, but it is not a complete restroom plan.

Explain who is present at the same time

For work, describe shift overlap and the trades sharing the facilities. For an event, distinguish total visitors from the largest group likely to be present together. Include staff and suppliers when they use the same setup.

Identify the busiest periods and how long they last. Several short sessions can produce different demand from a continuous gathering, even when the total number of people is similar.

Account for facilities already available

Tell us which permanent restrooms the group is actually allowed to use and when. Do not count toilets that exist on the property but are closed, restricted or impractical for the activity.

Mention wider-entry needs, washing and the movement between activity areas. Selecting a total number of cabins does not settle the appropriate equipment mix or placement.

Review the recommendation when the plan changes

Ask the rental contact to explain the proposed setup using your dates, use pattern and service arrangement. This page does not offer a universal numerical formula or replace an organiser’s required professional advice.

If attendance, operating hours or permanent access changes, revisit the recommendation. An early estimate is most useful when it is updated as the actual activity becomes clearer.
